An up and down kind of week

Well this has been a very up an down week full of emotional and a bit of a roller-coaster really but it is Friday and I have plenty to be thankful for.
  • My youngest Jamie learned to tie his shoelaces this week.
  • My eldest Ellie has successfully worked her socks off for her AS-Level Art exam and coursework and is still smiling
  • My middle one Robert has trials for the local youth running club tomorrow morning and was picked to play in the under 11s cricket match this weekend which has sadly been cancelled but he was thrilled all the same.
  • I have survived another week of accounts closedown at work - with the worst still to come though
  • Hubby is mid decision making about a change of jobs but I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
And so to the weekend with decorating to be finished off in the living room, and maybe, just maybe a little crafting time for me :)
Have a good one people - whatever you choose to do xx

Throwback Thursday - Prima

Both a photo (from circa 1975/6) and a Prima layout for this weeks throwback Thursday post. This is my brother and I and it's a very precious photo to me. We are super close and I still hug him this tight each time I see him.

The layout was one I taught at a ATDML Spring 2011 retreat where there was a significant amount of hand cutting of flowers and the frame shown here. Still love this page to this day (and I don't always feel that way about my older pages!). Anyone remember taking this class with me?

Are you sharing your Throwback Thursday memories? Leave a comment with details so I can come share with you!

Back in the gym/Addicted to Spin

I have been back in the gym this week and putting myself through a couple of spinning classes to slowly build myself back up to the fitness level I was at a couple of months ago.  It reminded me that not too long ago I created a page about my addiction to spin classes using the Stamping Up tag top punch and papers from Simple Stories Say Cheese collection.

Each strip is 2" wide (to fit in the punch) and they are a variety of lengths. You could repeat the design with slightly shorter lengths but then the same number of pieces again upside down so you have a page full of tags with more room for photos or journaling.

This page was created for ATDML February gallery and the other layouts from the team and I can be found by clicking on the hyperlink above. Hope you enjoy them!

Glitz Love pages for ATDML Spring Retreat

Sharing the last of my classes today that I taught over the weekend at the ATDML retreat - this page created with Glitz Design Black and white. Both layouts I taught with these papers had interactive elements which meant more photos and journaling could be added to the pages.

Layout one fetaures photos taken during Matt Cardles' Glasgow gig date for his 3rd album Porcelain tour - and funnily enough I am off to see him again tonight at Shepherd's Bush Empire! Expect more photos!!

Layout two was Matt Cardle free and instead featured the main Mat in my life, my husband!

The rose portion of paper lifts open to the left to reveal two additional photographs and the & paper piece lifts up as illustrated below. Each of the blocks are approx 4" square if you want to create a similar looking page for yourself.  This was the last class of the weekend and whilst everyone was tired out I am sure we still had quite the classroom full of people happily crafting away.

I had a fab weekend and also taught a pop up box make and take too and well as teaching my three classes. Saying that I took 5 classes as well and managed 3 cards and 8 layouts over the weekend so not too bad at all! I hope everyone who came last weekend isn't too sad today it being a week since we were away - the next retreat in October will be here before you know it ladies!

Throwback Thursday - Love your Converse

Layout from November 2011 for Throwback Thursday which is a thing by all accounts, has it's own twitter hash tag and everything! #tbt.  According to Urban dictionary it is "When you put a picture from a "while" ago on your social media sites"

So, I thought I could share a layout or photo from back when each Thursday here on my blog. If you already play along with this leave me a link to your throwback image as I'd love to see!

For the record this layout was created for the ATDML gallery using (I think) 7Gypsies papers.

ATDML Websters Pages travel class

As promised I am back sharing more layouts from my recent scrapbooking retreat - this time a couple of travel themed pages taught on Saturday with Websters Pages.

The kit included a 12x12 set of vellum Polaroid frames and tags which I used most of on the above page which was inspired by a design on saw on Pinterest and can no longer find to give credit back to. Anyway the page again was a quite straight forward one to pull together, starting with two rows of the vellum frames at the top and bottom of the page. These were filled with an assortment of photos and paper elements which together with a couple of tags, the journaling strips and the rather lovely vinyl thickers lead to another bright and fun page for my album.

More cutting out of the paper elements on the second page as you can see.

All of the papers and the vellum frames featured in the images above can be found in the ATDMK store HERE.. Hope you like the pages!

My Minds Eye - Milo class for ATDML

Welcome back to the land of blogging from me - I have been super busy these last 4 weeks preparing to teach three classes at the ATDML Spring 2014 retreat which was held this weekend just passed.

We set off for the stunning hotel in Stoke by Nayland Friday morning and my first class kickstarted the weekend at 1.30.

We started with a 7 1/2" circle of patterned paper and added 3"x4" panels across the page, the left panel being a pocket with a pull out journaling card. A few banner elements, a doiley, some stickers and a few enamel dots meant for a pretty clean and simple page with plenty to still look at.

There was plenty of product left in the kit after I designed the layout so we also made a pocket book which utilised the majority of the remaining 3"x4" journaling cards that came in the pack.

There was plenty of space to add many photos and pocket pages with pull our tabs. It was a lovely start to a wonderful weekend and over the coming days I will share more creations from the weekend.

I have also drawn up a blog plan to include a few more posts each month with at least 2 blog posts a week so be sure to check back with me!
